I was living in an orphanage with other lots of kids who were also alone like me in this world. I am a five year old girl and my name is Mimi given by my orphanage caretaker. I am not aware about my real parents that who they are, where are they now. At this early age of 5, my mind filled with lots of question.
Usually here all the kids wanted to be adopted by the rich and loving family but I never desire for this. I always wanted to be free from this orphanage cage.
There are two caretaker, one is Joseph and another his girlfriend. They were all after money all the time. They used to take huge amount from the people who ever came to adopt a child. Well, taking huge amount of money from adoptive parents was not a problem but they never spent that money on the orphanage kids and never took care of them well.
I used to sleep on the mattress as no bed were available for us. Our caretaker had few favorites children who they used to take care well but those children were also act as they love our caretaker but that story was totally different. These were the children who were acting like seniors and bully us.
I always end up hiding in our backyard where I have dig up the big hole as that was filled with cemented pipe. I used to spent my time there mostly. There was one female dog also used to live with me in that cemented hole and her cute small puppies.
I liked this small cozy place under a tree. Nobody usually comes in the backyard and that's why this small cozy place was hidden from everybody as it was all filled with trees, cactus and coctus plants and some shady beautiful trees.
One day I was sitting in a backyard as got hit and scolded by Lora. I cried and quietly sobbing. In the front of our house there were coctus fence so that nobody can come inside passing them. I suddenly saw a cute little kitten which was crying and desperately trying to gate pass through fence. At that time I was all alone so I got up and quietly went to that kitten. I saw she had a little fresh scares might be due to fence.
I picked her up and examined her fresh scars. I took her with myself and quietly went through the corridor and came into my small room and aided her wounds. I used old cloth and tied it on her wound. Suddenly i heard footsteps outside my room so I hid the kitten under the cupboard and sat quietly. Lora gave me my food plate and went away.
I had my food and shared with my kitten as well. I named that kitten, Miya. She meowed and acted like she liked her name.
One day, Lora and Joseph came with few people who were wearing black glasses on their eyes and covered in black suits in black cars. They were counting children and chosen five children. I thought the came here to adopt but I was wrong.
They were in the orphanage office and discussing some paper work. I got little curious and went nearby the room as there were no other children. All were unaware of the danger and busy in playing outside.
The things I heard made me froze on my place. These people were not here for adopting the children but to take them for some illegal work. Lora and Joseph got the huge amount of money from these people and planning to sell the orphanage. Although this orphanage was useless place but still it was our only home.
I was horrified with the fact that those children were getting sold by our caretaker. I ran away as soon office gate opened. I was horrified for my life too that if they caught me. I wanted to tell those kids but it was of no use as they were the one who used to bully me and other kids most of the time.
I came in my room and sobbed quietly thinking that I am unable to save those kids, besides horrified for myself too. I slept that day and in the fresh morning I got up. Suddenly something clicked in my mind. A smile crept across my face. I took my kitten and quietly came outside. It was still little dark outside around time between 4 to 5 Am in the morning. I passe corridor and my kitten was sleeping at that time. So I had no trouble passing the corridor but suddenly I saw Joseph coming from the right side. He was sleep walking and snoring. I kept quiet and waited for him to pass by. As soon as he left I ran outside.
But as I came towards the gate, it was locked and couldn't go outside through it. Now we only had an option to trespass through the coctus fence. Suddenly I saw a small hole in the fence. I guess it was done by my kitten when she was trying to come through it and that was the reason she got those fresh wounds. I saw my kitten, she was sleeping soundly.
I tried opening that fence from the small hold and took my kitten and somehow succeeded to come outside.
I was so happy as I was free and all by myself and I had no one to be worried about.
Well, this is enough for today. What happened to me and my kitten when we left that stupid place called orphanage. And what happened to those children who were getting sold and our selfish owners.
