Next day, I woke up yawning due to some weird sound. I just followed the sound, it came from inside the shop.
Miya, my little kitten, also got up and started meowing.
"Sshh miya, don't make any noise now, someone is there inside the shop"
Miya looked at me as if understood what I just told her.
We both peaked outside from the broken window of the old car.
Soon we both were horrified as there was a man, who was shifting old junk to his truck from the shop.
We hid inside the car. I was now worried what if that old man found us or didn't know what he would do to us.
That man was in his middle age, with a bulging tummy and white and black beard on his face with little dirty clothes.
Although he looked very hunk, there was no sign of evil shown in his eyes as he was busy shifting rusty old items from the shop to his small truck.
Suddenly, Miya jumped outside the car, making me shake on her sudden weird behavior.
Miya approached the man and started meowing.
That man looked at the miya for a while and then suddenly he started caressing the kitten.
"Hey little kitty, what are you doing here, where is your owner?" he spoke with a tender smile.
He picked her up "are you lost little kitty", he spoke again.
This time miya replied to him with her "meow" sound.
"Aww, you seem hungry kitty, look how small you are"
" oh, come on, she is just a few months old," I said, folding my arms.
He widened his eyes as his expression changed at my sudden appearance.
"What are you doing here little kid?" He spoke questioning me.
Miya jumped and came by my side.
"Are you both lost here?" He spoke.
"Umm, not really, I spoke, scratching my head a little.
He asked about my parents so I told him how I ran away taking miya with me from that orphanage.
He sighed and looked at me.
"Are you hungry?"
I nodded my head, so he went inside and got us the same canned food and fresh water bottle.
We silently sat on the porch and ate our food.
"Hurry up, you should not be here alone as this place is not safe" said the man.
"Where will we go?" I said
"You can come with me to my home, it is about 12 km far from this area but that is a beautiful city "mamora" (imaginary city)
I nodded and we sat in a truck and drove off to Mamora.
It was a very long journey and I fell asleep along with my kitten on my lap.
We reached the hunk man's home. I got down from the truck.
It was a quiet yet beautiful neighborhood area with green grass spreading across the whole area with a bunch of big trees.
Suddenly a squirrel came jumping towards the man and sat on his shoulder. I was awestruck as it was my first time seeing a squirrel up close. I gestured to an old man to hand me the squirrel. She came and sat on my palm. It has very beautiful and smooth fur.
Suddenly the squirrel jumped and sat on the old man's shoulder.
What?, why this sudden reaction but I realized why, because of Miya.
Miya was hissing towards the squirrel. Squirrel tucked the tail of miya as if mocking the little kitten on her behavior. Miya made a "purr" noise and hiss slowly.
Squirrel again jumped on the miya tail. They started chasing each other, looking at this I and the old man laughed loudly.
I guess, the little kitten found a companion, said the old man. I felt offended and looked at him with a scrunching nose expression.
"Ok, I am sorry", he said
We both went inside the home. It was a cozy, white furnished with wooden furniture interior looking really comfortable.
I yawned suddenly, looking at the cozyness of the house.
He showed me my room. I went inside and closed the door and lay down on the cozy looking bed.
Suddenly, miya came running and jumped on me and I looked out the window. There was the same squirrel. It also came inside.
I loved the feeling now as we all three beings were sleeping in our cozy bed. We fell asleep immediately snuggling into each other.
We woke up as it was evening time. Birds were chirping outside. I got up and went outside the room but I couldn't see the old man.
Where has he gone? I thought
I came outside of the house but the old man was nowhere to be found.
I got suddenly worried as something doesn't seem right.
I saw an old man running up to us huffing badly as he gestured us to go inside the house.
He was bleeding from the shoulder. Before I could understand, I saw a few men in black suits following him, holding their guns towards him.
I understood and came back inside the room along with my kitten and squirrel.
We were horrified at the situation.
I started shivering as my heart was thumping badly due to unwanted situations. I felt horrible that they were going to kill us and the old man who helped me and miya.
I couldn't do much to save him. We heard the door closed and saw the old man running towards us. He came inside the room and closed the door.
We heard the door knock down with a thud sound and heard footsteps in the living room area. They were searching for us.
I will handle them, you have to go from here. Where we will go, I said worried as we all are surrounded by them.
The old man opened the big black box thing in the room, I was a little surprised as it was not an actual black box but there was a secret passage outside. He told us to go through it and not to get caught.
We all three jumped in the box and ran towards the stairs. One last time I looked at the old man, he smiled at me slowly and then closed the big box.
I was holding a torch and turned it on but suddenly heard a gunshot sound. Miya and the squirrel jumped on me and clung to me.
I started running towards the outside as it was a long passage.
I was breathing hard as well as afraid. We somehow managed to come outside the cave-like passage and came towards the road. We saw a board towards Mamora city entrance.
I knew what I had to do now.
We started running opposite of the hanging board.
We came quite far from the area. I heard a few cars sound so we hid behind the bush as they passed.
We started walking slowly.
